We’re proud to share some outstanding results from the San Jose IBJJF Winter International Open, held on January 17th, 2026.
Prof. Leandro Castroviejo competed in the Masters division and delivered a dominant performance, taking gold in both divisions he entered:
🥇 Ultra Heavy – Masters
🥇 Open Class – Masters
A strong showing at a major IBJJF event, reflecting experience, composure, and high-level jiu-jitsu under pressure.
We’re also excited to congratulate Prof. Daniel (Mão de Broca), who had an exceptional weekend of his own, winning gold in both of his divisions:
🥇 Master 3 / Black / Ultra-Heavy
🥇 Master 3 / Black / Open Class
Although the IBJJF results list him under his previous affiliation, Prof. Daniel has recently joined Castroviejo Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a full-time Professor and competed at the event wearing the Castroviejo gi.
The competition doesn’t stop there. Prof. Leandro and Prof. Daniel will both be back on the mats this upcoming weekend, competing at the Los Angeles Winter International Open IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship, taking place January 31 – February 1 at the Los Angeles Convention Center (South Hall J).
Two Professors.
Four gold medals.
On to the next challenge.
Oss!
