Double Gold for Professors Leandro & Daniel at the IBJJF Santa Cruz Open

Big weekend for the team at Castroviejo Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy.

Professor Leandro Castroviejo and Professor Daniel “Mão de Broca” Queiroz both brought home double gold medals at the IBJJF Santa Cruz Open, representing the academy with dominant performances throughout the day.

Both professors won gold in their weight divisions and then followed it up with gold in the open weight divisions — an incredible result against tough competition from academies across California and beyond.

For the students, it was also a chance to see the level of dedication and preparation that goes on behind the scenes. Competing at IBJJF events requires not only technical skill, but conditioning, discipline, and the willingness to test yourself under pressure.

Professor Daniel continued to show why he is regarded as one of the top competitors and instructors around, while Professor Leandro once again led by example, demonstrating the same relentless pace and pressure that students experience every day in training.

Results like this are great for the academy, but they also reinforce something more important: the culture of continuous improvement, hard work, and learning that we try to build on the mats every week.
